Manchester City are considering a move for German goalkeeper Stefan Ortega to replace Zack Steffen as Ederson's No 2 at the Etihad.

USA international Steffen wants more first-team football next season to ensure he is first-choice for the World Cup in November when he is set to face England in Group B.

There have also been doubts about the 27-year-old's future at City since his blunder contributed to a 3-2 defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final in April.

It was the last of his nine appearances with Pep Guardiola choosing to play Ederson in the majority of games last season.
