Madrid mayor labels decision to allow 3,000 Atletico fans to travel to Liverpool for Champions League victory as a 'mistake'

The mayor of Madrid has said it was a 'mistake' for Atletico Madrid fans to travel to Anfield for their Champions League game with Liverpool, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Questions were raised at why 3,000 Atletico supporters were allowed to travel for their last-16 second-leg win over Liverpool on March 11.

This had been despite the announcement that all LaLiga games would be played behind closed doors, just one day before the match took place.
