Nine days have come to pass since the parents of Liverpool footballer Luis Diaz were kidnapped by the Columbian Guerilla group ELN.

Diaz's father, Luis Manuel Diaz and his mother, Cilenis Marulanda, were seized at gunpoint in their hometown of Barrancas near the Venezuelan border on October 28.

His mother was rescued hours later and returned to family but his father remains in the hands of ELN.

The left-wing group today pledged to 'keep their word' and free him since promising the world nearly four days ago it had started the process of securing his release.
