Liverpool's riches in attack mean Sturridge, Origi must take chances

Liverpool became the first English club to defeat Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night with a 2-1 win in the EFL Cup. But it wasn't really Spurs or Liverpool, was it? The Reds' victory told us little about either team, other than the fact that Jurgen Klopp appears to have much more depth to his squad than his Tottenham counterpart Mauricio Pochettino.

Klopp made 11 changes to his regular Premier League lineup, while only Eric Dier remained from the Spurs' side that were held to a goalless draw at Bournemouth on Saturday. On this evidence, Liverpool's second XI looks much stronger than Tottenham's, and only some fine goalkeeping from Michel Vorm and a rather generous penalty decision awarded to Spurs by referee Jon Moss kept the game close.
