Liverpool's centre-back crisis deepens as Joel Matip is forced off against West Brom after pulling up with an apparent groin problem to add to long-term injuries suffered by Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez

Liverpool have yet another centre-back casualty after Joel Matip was replaced around the hour mark against West Brom with an apparent groin issue.

The German had just dealt with a breakaway from Callum Robinson when he alerted the home bench that he was injured, with Rhys Williams coming on in his place.

Liverpool were leading 1-0 at the time thanks to Sadio Mane's 12th-minute strike after Matip's ball over the top of the Baggies defence set the Senegalese star on his way.

Jurgen Klopp's side are already missing their first-choice pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, who are out until April and June respectively.
