A ten-man Arsenal managed to hold off a surging Liverpool attack to eek out a goalless stalemate in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Thursday.
Granit Xhaka was given his marching orders on 24 minutes for a reckless challenge on Diogo Jota on the edge of the box. But, despite being down to ten men, the Gunners managed to cling on to head into the break with a goalless stalemate.
Liverpool would have expected to run riot after the Gunners went a man down but they were left frustrated as a lack of concentration and execution in the final third saw them waste chance after chance.
