Can is expected to leave Anfield this summer when his contract expires, with Juventus his likely destination.
But the Reds have the chance to land an immediate replacement in fellow Germany international Khedira.
According to the Sun, Liverpool have discussed the possibility of signing the World Cup winner this summer, as he apparently is keen to move to the Premier League.
