Liverpool to move training ground to Kirkby in time for 2019-20 season

Liverpool have confirmed plans to move their first-team training base to Kirkby.

The club will depart its Melwood complex, which has been in use since the 1950s, and make the five-mile move to the site where its academy set-up is currently housed.

The Liverpool Echo reports that the project will cost in the region of £50 million and that the club's owners, Fenway Sports Group, have committed the funds.

The report added that the work on the site would be completed by the summer of 2019, with the first team making the switch for preseason training prior to the 2019-20 season.
