Liverpool star Luis Diaz's father could be released in the next few hours according to reports in Colombia.
Luis Manuel Diaz was seized at gunpoint alongside his wife on Saturday evening.
A large manhunt has been ongoing since and local authorities have put the blame on Colombia’s last remaining rebel group Ejercito de Liberacion Nacional (ELN), which translates as the National Liberation Army. Diaz’s mother, Cilenis Marulanda, was left in a car by kidnappers as police closed in, but the gunmen dragged away his father.
A report from Colombian publication Semana have reported that it is expected the group - considered to be terrorists by the US and European Union - will release him in the next few hours.
