Liverpool pay heartfelt tribute to the NHS and frontline workers during coronavirus pandemic by marking special message on Anfield turf

Liverpool have paid a special tribute to NHS workers and health professionals battling on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Premier League club shared a touching message of appreciation as it was announced the UK suffered 759 more coronavirus deaths, taking the total past 18,000.

Liverpool's grounds team used a GPS line marker on the hallowed turf at Anfield to create a love heart above the NHS and the 'YNWA' abbreviation of the club's You'll Never Walk Alone anthem.

The gesture from Liverpool comes a day before Thursday's 'Clap for our Carers', which will take place for a fifth week in a row at 8pm (BST) to thank the brave frontline workers during this crisis.
