Liverpool mayor Steve Rotherham has indicated safe standing should be considered as fans prepare to vote on the re-introduction of terracing.
Standing at football matches is a highly sensitive on Merseyside following the Hillsborough disaster which took the lives of 96 Liverpool fans in 1989.
Rotherham has not offered support for the scheme, but conceded the culture of football has changed considerably since standing at matches was banned. according to the Daily Mail.
Elected two months ago, Rotherham said: "Small sections (of safe standing areas) that are barriered off are something we should look at.
