On 22 September, Fowler made his Liverpool debut and scored the first of 183 goals for the club. His dad had travelled down to London for the League Cup match at Fulham and was in the away end to see his 18-year-old son smash Don Hutchison's cross past Jim Stannard in a 3-1 win.
