Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos did not mean to injure Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the Champions League Final, according to former Red Danny Murphy.
An awkward tangle between the pair during Saturday’s game in Kiev saw the Egyptian land awkwardly on his shoulder and leave the pitch in tears as Jurgen Klopp’s men lost 3-1.
Since then, a petition from infuriated fans to UEFA and FIFA to ban Ramos for ‘intentionally hurting’ the forward has received almost 300,000 signatures.
But Murphy thinks it was accidental, although he did feel he knew what the Spaniard was doing in the challenge.
