Liverpool are back in a Champions League semi-final, 10 years after they last took part in one.
On April 22, 2008, the Reds hosted Chelsea at Anfield in the first leg of their semi-final. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, John Arne Riise’s late own goal cancelling out Dirk Kuyt’s opener to hand the Blues a valuable away goal.
Chelsea won the away leg 3-2 after extra-time, securing an aggregate 4-3 victory and progressing to the final, which they ended up losing to Manchester United on penalties.
Liverpool will be hoping to go one step further than they did a decade ago, and reach their first European Cup final since 2007, the year prior to that semi-final defeat at the hands of Chelsea.
