Liverpool Football Club is planning to move from its training ground as part of a £50m project to redevelop its academy site.
The Reds are proposing to sell its Melwood facility in West Derby and train its first team in Kirkby, where its academy is based.
The first team has trained at Melwood since the 1950s.
If the redevelopment of the Kirkby site gets the green light it could be completed by 2019.
The project is a joint enterprise between the club and Knowsley Council.
Andy Hughes, the club's chief operating officer, said bringing the first team and young players together in one location was a "really exciting proposition".
