Liverpool FC celebrates 125th birthday

On June 3, 1892, the Board of Trade officially recognised the formation of a company named ‘Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Limited’.

The birth of LFC marked the end of a long and acrimonious dispute that saw a group of directors, including founder John Houlding, leave Everton in order to form a new club to play at Anfield.

That move was rubberstamped on this day 125 years ago.

A year-long celebration of this significant milestone begins today at Anfield, with the club set to host a special Red Neighbours party for children and pensioners before unveiling a giant birthday card signed by supporters from around the world.
