Joey Barton has had his say on the best and worst atmospheres in the Premier League, saying Liverpool fans 'sing You’ll Never Walk Alone at the start… and that’s pretty much it'.
The debate was sparked by Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho on Saturday, when he criticised the Old Trafford crowd for being too quiet during their 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town.
Mourinho then bizarrely went on to say the atmosphere at Portsmouth’s Fratton Park is ‘absolutely incredible’ compared to the Theatre of Dreams.
The Red Devils mananger’s comments prompted a reaction from the Manchester United Supporters' Trust, who insisted the decline of atmosphere is ‘no means limited to Old Trafford’ and is ‘an issue affecting clubs throughout the country’.
