Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan, 25, pleads guilty to common assault after KICKING his mother-of-two girlfriend Rachel Wall in drunken late-night street attack before Christmas

Liverpool footballer Jon Flanagan has pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend three days before Christmas.

The 25-year-old defender was charged following an incident on Duke Street in Liverpool city centre, at around 3.10am on December 22.

He was assaulted his girlfriend Rachael Wall - a mother of two - by beating — an offence that carries a maximum prison sentence of six months.

Flanagan was pictured this afternoon arriving at Liverpool Magistrates' Court in a black suit and tie.

Lionel Greig, mitigating, said: 'This is a young man with no previous convictions, he is 25 years of age, he lives at home with his parents, he has been in a relationship with the complainant for a period of 18 months.
