Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno may not feature again this year after Jurgen Klopp confirms he damaged tendons in his ankle during Spartak Moscow victory

Alberto Moreno could be out until the new year after it emerged he had suffered damage to his ankle tendons.

The Liverpool left-back will definitely miss Sunday's Merseyside derby due to the effects of the injury he sustained in the first half of his side's 7-0 victory over Spartak Moscow.

Moreno, who has enjoyed a resurgence in form this season having looked destined to leave in the summer, was sent for a scan on Thursday and Liverpool are letting the injury settle further before making a definitive decision on how long he will be absent.
