Liverpool are reportedly leading the race to sign Belgian winger Jeremy Doku from Rennes.
Jurgen Klopp's side have been linked with the 19-year-old for some time and are continuing to monitor his progress.
The teenager has attracted widespread interest and the suggestion is that he could leave Rennes at the end of what will be his second season with the Ligue 1 side.
RTL Sport have now reported that Liverpool are 'best placed' to sign the Belgian international next year.
Though any deal would more likely happen in the summer, the Reds could be short of attacking options when Mo Salah and Sadio Mane head to the African Cup of Nations in the winter.
