Liverpool will reportedly appoint Jorg Schmadtke as their sporting director this week.
Mail Sport reported earlier in May how the Reds were closing in on a deal to bring in the former German goalkeeper, and it was just a matter of time until this was confirmed.
It has long been a source of speculation over who will replace Julian Ward, the current incumbent, since he stated his intention to step down last November.
Liverpool had been linked with a number of candidates, including Paul Mitchell, who is with Monaco.
But Schmadtke, 59, a well-respected figure within German football, received a solid recommendation from manager Jurgen Klopp during discussions with club owners Fenway Sports Group.
