League Two Plymouth produced a superb defensive rearguard to hold Liverpool to a stalemate in front of a packed home crowd on Sunday.
The young Reds dominated a sterile first half as their lower league opponents dropped deep and allowed them to keep possession, but they created little in the way of goalscoring opportunities.
As the home side's frustrations grew in the second half, Jurgen Klopp was prompted to turn to experience on the bench, introducing Daniel Sturridge just after the hour mark.
Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana both followed but the home side continued to look toothless in attack against an inspired rearguard display.
