The Premier League Primary Stars Female Football Intervention Tournament saw over 80 young players from primary schools across the city go head-to-head in a series of knockout games.

The competition was the culmination of a six-week programme, during which the girls received training from LFC Foundation coaches and were encouraged to plan and deliver their own sessions in school breaks.

David McParland, LFC Foundation project lead, said: “This programme is designed to introduce girls of primary school age to the world of football.

“We encourage them to develop their skills and confidence, and the sessions can really improve their fitness levels too.
