Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a number of signings from the Bundesliga since taking charge at Anfield.
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz was reportedly on the Reds’ radar in the summer, along with his team-mate Benjamin Henrichs.
And according to website Football Whispers, the Reds invited Havertz to their Melwood training facility last month.
The 18-year-old is said to have been given the red-carpet treatment and met with Klopp, Philippe Coutinho and club legend Steven Gerrard.
Havertz signed a new five-year deal with Leverkusen over the summer but it said to have been agreed merely to boost his return when sold.
