Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier has come out in defence of his team's tactics in the valiant Champions League last-16 victory over holders Liverpool.
The Spanish side pulled off a finely curated game plan to win both legs of the tie and nullify Jurgen Klopp's juggernaut, though came under heavy criticism for the manner in which they appeared to kill the fixture.
Liverpool dominated in both possession and chances at Anfield as they chased a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, though their intense forward play allowed Atleti to capitalise on the break and grasp victory at the death - a tactic which Trippier has now endorsed.
