Ben Woodburn celebrated a record-breaking moment in his fledgling career as he became Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer.

The Academy graduate came on in the 67th minute of his side’s EFL quarter-final against Leeds and, 14 minutes later, he smashed a right-footed drive into the Kop net to secure a 2-0 win.

At 17 years and 45 days, he has usurped Michael Owen by 98 days. Owen, whose first goal came at Wimbledon in May 1997, was in the crowd at Anfield and tweeted Woodburn his congratulations.
