Jordan Henderson's tribute to Tommy Lawrence

A minute’s applause will precede the Reds’ fixture with Manchester City this afternoon in memory of the former goalkeeper, who made 390 appearances for the club between 1962 and 1971.

Writing in his column for ‘This is Anfield’, Henderson said: “On behalf of every current player at Liverpool I would like to pass on my condolences to the family of Tommy Lawrence, who passed away this week at the age of 77.

“I don’t think many of you who are reading these notes will need me to tell you what a great player Tommy was for Liverpool because his status as a club icon has long since been established, but what I can add is that Tommy – and all of the players of his era – are held in the highest esteem by everyone in the current squad.
