Gareth Southgate has warned vice-captain Jordan Henderson he will not accept a repeat of Sunday's penalty farce after captain Marcus Rashford secured victory over Romania in England’s final Euros warm-up friendly.
Rashford, leading his country for the first time, scored from the spot but later Henderson missed a second penalty.
And Southgate has revealed Henderson wasn’t supposed to take the penalty.
With Rashford and James Ward-Prowse substituted, Dominic Calvert-Lewin was next in line but Henderson, who hasn’t scored for England, pulled rank.
Southgate said: ‘I would not be able to explain the situation about the penalty, Marcus and James were the two nominated at the start and they both came off.
