Jordan Henderson has been unfairly criticised over his brief spell in Saudi Arabia, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp claimed yesterday.

The England midfielder, 33, was accused of turning his back on the LGBT community, for whom he had been an ally, when he quit Liverpool for the riches of Saudi Arabia, where being gay is a crime.

This week Henderson terminated his contract with Al Ettifaq and signed for Ajax.

‘It looks like he is happy and that is the most important thing to me,’ Klopp said of his former captain.
