Jurgen Klopp has revealed his and the club’s frustration over their ongoing dispute with Cameroon and FIFA about the availability of Joel Matip.
The Reds manager was forced to pull the defender out of Sunday's Premier League clash at Manchester United because of a row over his international status.
Matip has not represented Cameroon since September 2015 and it was widely understood that he had retired from international football, yet he was still named in Cameroon's squad for the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
The Cameroonian Football Federation had a right to do this under FIFA rules and, with the player having not reported for duty, he could consequently be suspended from club football for the duration of the tournament.
