Jamie Carragher has appeared to make light of his recent spitting scandal after claiming disgraced Australian pair Steve Smith and Darren Lehmann 'saved him'.
The former footballer recently hit the headlines after he was filmed spitting at a teenage girl in the wake of Liverpool's defeat by Manchester United earlier this month.
He was taken off his punditry duties until the end of the season by Sky and on Thursday, Carragher uploaded a photo of him alongside Smith and Lehmann with the caption: 'I knew you'd save me boys!'

Shamed Australia captain Smith has been banned for a year alongside vice-captain David Warner, with Cameron Bancroft suspended for nine months, after they admitted ball-tampering in the third Test against South Africa.
