James Milner, Liverpool come up empty again against Southampton

This is a modal window.

James Milner was quick to take responsibility for failing to secure a win against Southampton.

Liverpool's Champions League qualification is back in the balance after they were yet again left frustrated by a well-organised Saints team, who have now shut out Jurgen Klopp's men four times this season. James Milner had a second-half penalty saved by Fraser Forster and the keeper also came to his team's rescue with a last-minute save to deny Marko Grujic.

Positives

It's scant consolation, but not conceding a goal from a set piece or on the counter attack is an improvement on recent meetings with Southampton.
