The Brazilian stopper is one of seven Reds up for the prestigious honour, and being a big stalwart of the goalkeeper’s union Bruce Grobbelaar is delighted to see him on the shortlist.
Joining the No.1 on the 30-man shortlist are teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum.
Grobbelaar, who made 628 appearances as the Reds' stopper, believes Alisson’s inclusion is well deserved.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: "I think it’s justified. It’s good to see a goalkeeper being nominated for the Balon d’Or, it’s a long time since a goalkeeper has won that prestigious award.
