The best news to start the new year. I'm still convinced Rooney was only hired because they'd heard of him, ignoring his disastrous record at Derby and DC United. I'm still worried the damage is already done and we'll be fighting for survival come the end of the season.

    Wayne Rooney said he did not believe he was given enough time as Birmingham City manager, following his sacking after 15 games in charge.

    "Football is a results business – and I recognise they have not been at the level I wanted them to be," he said.
