Amid all the glowing references to Jurgen Klopp since Liverpool claimed their first league title in 30 years, Anfield legend Mark Lawrenson perhaps paid the biggest mark of respect of all.

Speaking on the BBC, Lawrenson said that the 'Shankly-esque' Klopp has improved every single player he has coached at Liverpool, barring exiled goalkeeper Loris Karius.

'Of all the players that he's bought, I can't remember him buying one that's not made it,' he said.
