Grandparents of toddler, two, found dead at home during the Covid pandemic appear in court accused of his murder - as his mother is charged with child neglect

The grandparents of a toddler found dead at home during the pandemic after allegedly suffering a catalogue of injuries have appeared in court accused of his murder.

Michael Ives, 46, and Kerry Ives, 45, both of Kingsley Road, Garden City, Flintshire, appeared at Mold Crown Court today on video links from Berwyn and Styal prisons.

Prosecutor Catherine Elvin said they have been accused of the murder of Ethan Ives, two, in August 2021, allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm and child neglect.

Miss Elvin said the tot had brain injuries and had been taken to hospital at Chester before being transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
