Blackpool manager Michael Appleton speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "This is a fantastic competition that I have been quite fortunate to experience fantastic days in and this was one of them.
"I think the [clinical edge] is something we have lacked over the last five or six weeks since the break. We knew Nottingham Forest would have their chances but it was about putting blocks in, forcing shots wide and Chris Maxwell would have to make good saves. We rode the storm out at 1-0 and once scored the second we showed more freedom.
"We have gone on spells this season where we score three goals a game and then go on a little bit of a drought.
