Former NRL player turned heavyweight boxer Willis Meehan has been arrested and charged with allegedly possessing a handgun.
Meehan, 27, will also face a charge of allegedly defrauding the government when he appears in Parramatta Local Court on September 29.
The recent arrest at Meehan's home at Liverpool in Sydney's south-west, follows a nationwide crackdown from police on motorcycle gangs.
It is alleged the Roosters lock, who made one NRL appearance in 2014, has ties to the Hells Angels outlaw bikie gang.
In January this year, Meehan was also charged after allegedly stealing $2,000 in cash, various power tools and iPads, and possessing drugs.
