A former Premier League and England star's latest venture in Turkish football lasted just five months as the top-flight side terminated the player's contract.

Turkey - in similar fashion to Saudi Arabia - is becoming a second home to former Premier League icons, but one player's spell in the nation has been ended prematurely.

The midfielder now finds his career at a crossroads and could return to England with a number of club's able to make a potential offer to the surprise free agent.

Having initially impressed in the Turkish Super Lig last season, the 32-year-old moved to Eyupspor - managed by former Barcelona winger Arda Turan - in the summer where it was hoped he would lead the club's survival fight.
