MLS side Chicago Fire confirmed on Wednesday the permanent transfer of winger Xherdan Shaqiri from Lyon.
The former Merseyside midfielder leaves France with just 11 league appearances since joining Lyon from Liverpool in August last year. Shaqiri has registered two goals and three assists during his Ligue 1 stint.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but one source has claimed that Chicago Fire paid a free of around $7.5 million.

In a statement made on the club website, Chicago Fire expressed their delight at signing such an established player.
