Chicago Fire confirm Xherdan Shaqiri transfer from Lyon, as former Liverpool and Bayern Munich winger heads to MLS on Designated Player deal

MLS side Chicago Fire confirmed on Wednesday the permanent transfer of winger Xherdan Shaqiri from Lyon.

The former Merseyside midfielder leaves France with just 11 league appearances since joining Lyon from Liverpool in August last year. Shaqiri has registered two goals and three assists during his Ligue 1 stint.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but one source has claimed that Chicago Fire paid a free of around $7.5 million.
