Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the cheque presentation took a different format this year, with Billy Hogan, trustee of LFC Foundation and managing director of Liverpool FC, taking part in a special video call to virtually hand over the cheque to Owen’s father, Mark.
The cheque follows the sale of a very special limited-edition Owen McVeigh Foundation range, which includes a mug, keyring, caps and hoodies, a magnet and pin badge, as well as a striking red t-shirt, which was sold through the club’s three Liverpool city stores and online.
All profits from the sale of the range were donated to the Foundation set up in memory of 11-year old Owen, who tragically passed away shortly after being diagnosed with leukaemia in December 2015.
