Liverpool's top summer transfer target Martin Zubimendi has rejected a proposal to join the Merseyside club and will remain at boyhood team Real Sociedad.
Spain’s European Championship winner was identified as a top priority for Arne Slot’s this window and Liverpool believed they could tempt him away from La Real. He had previously rejected the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Liverpool believed they had an agreement in place and Merseyside sources say Zubimendi has gone back on his word.
But it now appears the move is off, with Zubimendi being convinced to stay by a charm offensive from his current club led by manager Imanol Alguacil.
