Harvey Elliott has revealed his family supporting Liverpool had been influential in convincing him to join the club in 2019, despite having been close to a move to Real Madrid.

Elliott signed for Liverpool as a 16-year-old from Fulham, after making two substitute appearances for the Cottagers.

The midfielder had previously revealed he had been given a tour of the Bernabeu when Real Madrid were in talks to sign him from Fulham.

Elliott claimed he had turned down the chance to meet then Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, after the defender had injured Mohamed Salah in the Champions League final in 2018.
