The centre’s busy four-week activity programme is invaluable to the local community, keeping young people from the L4, L5 and L7 areas entertained and active while school’s out.
When the centre’s funding for the programme was cut in July, The LFC Foundation stepped in to provide £5,000 for the summer camp.
Marie Rooney, manager of Anfield Sports and Community Centre, said: “Entertaining children during the summer holidays is not cheap by any means, so we know how much our summer camp is appreciated by local people. We were so relieved that we didn’t have to cancel it or increase the cost to local families; it would have meant lot of disappointed kids as well as parents.
