Alex Inglethorpe signs new Liverpool contract as academy director

Liverpool academy director Alex Inglethorpe has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract.

Inglethorpe, who joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, has been rewarded with a multi-year deal for the work done at the Kirkby academy that has seen a considerable amount of youngsters progress to the first team in recent years.

The 44-year-old first took up a role at Liverpool as under-21s manager before he was promoted to academy director back in August 2014.

Speaking to the club's official website about the new contract, Inglethorpe said: "The quality of a football club's youth system is driven by many factors, but not least by the quality of people involved in it.
