Liverpool confirmed on Sunday afternoon that legendary defender Alan Hansen is seriously ill in hospital.
The 68-year-old played 620 times for the Reds and won 25 trophies during a glittering 14-year spell at Anfield, where he became the outstanding centre back of his generation.
After retiring in 1991 due to injury, Hansen moved into punditry and was hugely popular, most notably for his work on Match of the Day.
He remains a much-loved figure in Liverpool and beyond and following the sad news of his ill health, Mail Sport has republished an interview Hansen conducted with his former Reds team-mate Jamie Redknapp in 2016.
