'72,000 fans and everything red - that was fantastic'

The Reds secured a straightforward victory over A-League champions Sydney FC in their post-season friendly, courtesy of first-half strikes by Daniel Sturridge, Alberto Moreno and Roberto Firmino.

More than 70,000 supporters watched on from the stands at the ANZ Stadium, which played host to a unique match – with club legends Daniel Agger, Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard and Steve McManaman joining the first team on the pitch.

“It’s always great to be back in Australia,” Lovren told Liverpoolfc.com.

“When you see the crowd here, 72,000 today and everything red, it’s great to be back with such a warm welcome.
