Very few of Leicester’s international stars can have truly enjoyed the World Cup experience and they appeared to relish the return from the labyrinthine souks of the Middle East to the mind-bending roundabouts of Milton Keynes.
It proved the gentlest of tests for Brendan Rodgers and his much-improved team as they eased back into competitive action, and into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, with goals scored by Youri Tielemans, Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy.
James Maddison, who won his World Cup selection battle only to travel to Qatar carrying an injury and not make an appearance for England, was absent again.
