Leicester's great year capped off as Vardy and Mahrez finish high in Ballon D'Or rankings

The greatest year in the history of Leicester City has been rounded off nicely after Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy finished seventh and eighth in the Ballon D'Or.

Both players were named on the 30-man shortlist for the award, given to the best player on the planet at the end of each calendar year, and won in 2016 by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Striker Vardy and winger Mahrez came higher than numerous other higher profile players, including the world's most expensive footballer in Paul Pogba, after being recognised for their extraordinary years.

Vardy and Mahrez were key figures in Leicester pulling off the biggest shock in English footballing history by winning the 2015/16 Premier League title, for which the club were a 5,000/1 shot at the start of the campaign.
