Leicester turn to Eduardo Macia as new player recruitment chief

Leicester have confirmed the arrival of Eduardo Macia as head of recruitment, with director of football Jon Rudkin calling the appointment an indication of the club’s 'ambition to strengthen its standing in the game’.

Macia replaces Steve Walsh, who was credited with the signings of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante before leaving to become Everton's director of football this summer.

Claudio Ranieri held a key role in bringing Macia to Leicester, having previously worked with the 42-year-old at Valencia.

Macia who also had a playing career at the Mestalla, worked at Liverpool under Rafael Benitez and Roy Hodgson and is credited with helping sign Fernando Torres, Javier Mascherano and Raheem Sterling.
